Since Apple released the iOS 7 operating system back in September the firmware has been beset with numerous bug issues and problems, but one issue that has affected the platform a number of times is when certain regions have to alter their clocks. Now the iPhone daylight saving bug strikes again in 2013 with iOS 7.

There have long been problems with the iPhone daylight saving bug and now despite the new iOS 7 operating system it has raised its ugly head again, as some AppleInsider readers have discovered over the last couple of days.

It has been discovered that the line on the calendar app that shows the current time is currently running an hour fast, but the bug doesn’t seem to be affecting all alarm settings or calendar events. If history is anything to go by Apple will fix this problem but the Daylight Savings Time is about to end this coming weekend on November 3rd.

Although this has already changed in the UK over the weekend and some users have been reporting issues, with cases of late alarm calls or missing appointments. Also some users in Australia got woken up early which is a problem that must be causing some embarrassment for Apple, but more importantly causing frustrating problems for users of the iOS platform.

Have you has any problems with the iPhone daylight saving time?

Whenever Samsung presents a new smartphone from the company adds some new features to the device that could someday find its way towards greater hardware and today we have the camera application Galaxy note 3 Vista running on the S4 Galaxy in a video.

When Samsung launched its latest smartphone phablet at the beginning of last month brought with it a new application of Surround camera shot. This application works in a way similar to the photosphere, which made its debut in 4.2 Android Jelly Bean and allows users to put together several images of its surroundings into an spherical image.

Until now this application was exclusively for Samsung Galaxy note 3 and it seems that they have not been included in the recent Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update being pushed out to the S4 Galaxy. Now a member of XDA Developers LastStandingDroid has been able to treat the camera Surround application access of the S4 Galaxy owner shot and you can see in the video that we have added for your visual pleasure below.

The application has been tested to work with the latest version of the operating system Android and Samsung TouchWiz overlay currently deploying to the S4 Galaxy. It says that all the features of the camera of the Galaxy note 3 working properly, including the application, and there is an opportunity for the owners of the S4 to play downloading software on their own, but at your own risk.

So if you want to give this a try please go to the thread here and follow instructions, but remember to do so only at your own risk.

Would you be downloading this software?

Batalla contra cargos de roaming y facturas de choque

Battle against roaming charges and invoices of shock» phone reviews All Samsung Sony Nokia Video NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola  add Mark Chubb (CEO of phones review) to your Google circles + |   Our applications   battle against roaming charges and invoices of shockunder: mobile phones
Date: 28 October 2013

Ready to give battle against roaming and bills of the shock. We live in a connected world and mobile telephone bills can sometimes be very high.

Use your mobile phone abroad today may cause massively expensive bills; especially if you plan to surf the Internet. At the end of September, The Daily Mail reported on a mother who was hit with a bill of £20,000 mobile phone after uploading vacation photos to Facebook during a trip to Turkey. That is twice their annual salary.

Mobile phone operators make a fortune foreign travelers today, simply due to the international roaming - extra fee you pay to use your mobile subscription on another operator's network. The price you pay is negotiated between operators. In the worst cases, this means that a mobile ticket can soar to thousands of pounds.

Would we that not are putting more pressure on our operators to abolish these outrageous fees extras?

The European Commission is deploying new normative international rates roaming in the EU, starting next summer. Free movement of goods and services, free movement of mobile communication. Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the Commission, called the "Mainland connected" initiative. , But what happens when we travel to the rest of the world?

The United Kingdom is one of the largest consumers of mobile data in the world. People connected around the clock on their mobile phones; they use social media, streaming video, music services, send an e-mail. The average consumption of mobile data among users of smartphone in the United Kingdom is little more than 1 GB per month. If you use your phone for video and streaming music, you probably average consumption of 2GB per month, according to a report from Ericsson. The British basically live much of their lives online. That doesn't change when you travel abroad.

UK operators offer several packages of data abroad. From £25 day 100 MB or even £6 per MB for the use of data outside Europe. If you are away for a week, that means that it could spend more £175 for data coverage. And if you're a family with children who see the Internet as an absolute necessity, you find yourself spending even more of your saved money holiday to be connected. And prices can soar to over above. Take a look at the phone bill £20 000 striking received by the mother.

While the EU is talking of a connected continent, HolidayPhone and our customers, we already live in a connected world. We enjoy being connected at home and I don't see why that needs to change when we go abroad. At the moment, international roaming rates around the world do not seem to go. And even when there is free movement of the mobile communication across all borders of the world, companies like ours are needed to help travelers stay connected. In today's world, everyone should we can use our mobile phones overseas with the same freedom and at the same price, at home.

Samsung Galaxy Mini S4 active can disappoint

Samsung Galaxy Mini S4 active can disappoint» phone reviews All Samsung Sony Nokia Video NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola  add Mark Chubb (CEO of phones review) to your Google circles + |   Our applications   Samsung Galaxy Mini S4 active can disappointunder: mobile phones, Samsung
Date: 28 October 2013

The Samsung Galaxy S4 active is a dust and water resistant version of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and has been very popular since it launched in June. New leaks now suggest that a mini Samsung Galaxy S4 active is in development but if exact specifications filtered then this can disappoint.

People obviously liked the idea of active galaxy S4 and similar version to be a smaller version of the mini S4 S4 Galaxy, Samsung now has a mini active S4 cheaper in the works. The mini Galaxy S4 not just a smaller version of the S4, as also had lower specifications. This also seems to be the case with the mini active S4, which will have lower specifications that its counterpart activated más grande.

The mini active Galaxy S4 has a number of model GT-I8580 and GFXBench reference points have come to light that they show a double core processor 1.2 GHz, graphics Adreno 305 and 4, 65-inch screen with an impressive resolution of 800 x 480 and 200 dpi. You will also have 1GB of RAM, a 5 megapixel rear camera and front-facing camera 0.3 megapixels.

Galaxy S4 active already available on the other hand, has a processor quad - core 1.9 GHz, 320 Adreno graphics and a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 441 ppi. It also has 2 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera and 2 megapixel front handle rear camera.

The mini Galaxy S4 active can be as dust and water resistant, as it is greater brother then, but the specifications are far from the mark. It is difficult to imagine who would want such a downgrade since it is especially in the mini display S4 active is not so mini, but then a lot of people like the mini Galaxy S4 so you never know.

There are no details on a mini Samsung Galaxy S4 active release date or pricing. However, it will be interesting to see just does it when you reach the shelves.

Would you be interested in a mini version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 active? Would you be more tempted if the specifications of the mini active S4 Galaxy were more similar to the larger version? Let us know your comments.

«new air iPad review Digest» phone reviews All Samsung Sony Nokia Video NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola  add Mark Chubb (CEO of phones review) to your Google circles + |   Our applications   new air iPad review for digestingunder: Tablet PC
Date: 28 October 2013

It has been nearly a week since Apple took the sheaths of two new models of iPad for 2013 a new model logo along with a new version of the lower offer. Today we have a new iPad revision of air so you can digest ahead of extended-release tablets.

While many are pleased to see the mini iPad 2 treat you to Retina display iPad air naturally also functions a Retina screen but at 9.7 inches. The new iPad air will be available this week from November 1 costs from £399 and a brief iPad review of air we have for you through the mirror of the little time I spent with the device.

The device was launched by Apple with claims is the thinnest and lightest full size iPad however, we note that as soon as the device is collected. Measured in 169,5 mm x 240 mm x 7.5 mm weight 469grams only for the Wi-Fi only model.

All ports and external buttons are in their usual positions, and while Apple has not always provided the best cameras in the form of tablets, images were to be much crisper than those taken in an iPad 3. The screen of the device offers the freshness that you would expect from the Retina display, but this model differs 4 iPad by the fact that it is now surrounded by a thin bezel, although the icons of iOS 7 together with the effect of Parallax caused any dizziness by movement.

There was no trace of the software slow although the device, but the main difference was found with the new iPad was its design. This lightness and super fast processor along with the Retina display could be said that it has provided the best iPad still the company according to the reviewer.

There was a time that clamshell or flip type mobile phones were all the rage until touchscreen displays become the norm more recently, but back in the summer Samsung launched a new device and the Samsung Galaxy Golden India price and launch has now been revealed.

We saw the Samsung Galaxy Golden appear back in August in South Korea, but now the handset has been launched in India with a price of Rs. 51,900. This may prove to be too high for many consumers considering the specifications of the handset are not exactly ground breaking.

To recap for your money we have a handset that has two 3.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen displays with one being on the inside and the other outside. These are powered by a dual core processor running at a clock speed of 1.7GHz coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.

This is running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and camera wise Samsung has provided an 8-megapixrel main camera along with a 1.9-megapixel shooter around the front. There is also 16GB of on board storage along with an FM radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS/AGPS.

The device has an Easy Mode that allows users to access and search applications more easily, and a Hidden Receiver feature allows users to take an incoming call without opening up the handset. The handset has also gone up for pre-order via online retailer Flipkart for Rs. 49,990.

Do you think the Samsung Galaxy Golden is overpriced?

Nokia Asha QWERTY Touch has 210 similarities

The Nokia Asha is a name that sticks with us all, they are in their own little way vibrant and cool handsets. The latest Asha smartphone we talked about was the Nokia Asha 210, and we have found a concept with similarities.

Say hello to the new Nokia Asha QWERTY smartphone, this one has been designed by Mohammad Zahid Maqbool, it looks great but for us it looks too much like the Nokia Asha 210 with its design and QWERTY keyboard.

The latest Nokia Asha QWERTY Touch handset looks rather nice, it comes with a 2.8-inch touch display, which is slightly larger than the Asha 210.

Other Asha QWERTY specs include dual shot clear case, 3.2-megapixel camera, it does not have 3G or flash for the camera. The Nokia Asha QWERTY phone price would be around 80 to 90 dollars if it were to go on sale.

At $80 to $90 that would put this smartphone in the low-end market, but we believe you get a lot of phone for a very low price.

Would you buy the Nokia Asah QWERTY touch smartphone?

It seems according to a couple of smartphone manufacturers anyway that handsets with a curved display is going to be the next big thing, and now following weeks of leaks the LG G Flex specs and availability have been confirmed via an official launch.

The LG G Flex has been at the centre of a number of leaks recently that have included some benchmark results, but now the handset has been made official by LG. As you can see the device resembles the company’s TV’s that have already been made available with the company shrinking this down for the smartphone market.

On the handset we have a 6-inch curved display at a 720p HD resolution which is powered by the Qualcomm quad core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz that is coupled with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear facing camera that is placed above the two rear control buttons similar to the LG G2, and around the front we have a 2.1-megapixel unit.

The device features a 3,500 mAh battery and what is interesting is that the rear of the device features a protective film that can repair itself within minutes if it is scratched. There is 32GB of built in storage, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and the device measures 160.5mm x 81.6mm x 8.7mm weighing 177grams.

The LG G Flex will be available from next month on all the major operators in South Korea but currently pricing or if the device will be launched in other markets hasn’t been revealed.

There has been a lot of speculation over the last few months that Google and LG would be unveiling this year’s Nexus smartphone by the end of this month, and now a Google event is planned for next week but it may not see a Nexus 5 release.

Google has been sending out invites for an event next week on October 24th in New York, and at first when the invites were sent out many believed the unveiling of the Nexus 5 along with the Nexus 10 will be taking place.

Sources have since claimed that no hardware will be showcased at this event and going by this news and the actual invite we look set to focus on Google Play news. The company looks set to show the world new developments that are related to its media offerings such as movies, games, and movies.

The event is likely to be streamed live via YouTube with proceedings kicking off at 7pm and the company must be planning another separate event to show case new hardware this year along with Android 4.4 KitKat.

The Nexus 5 has even been seen briefly on the Google Play Store which gave away its pricing so we can’t be much longer away now from seeing the handset launched, and with any luck more will be known by next week’s special event.

Are you waiting to see what the Nexus 5 brings before deciding on your next smartphone?

Galaxy Note 3 battery life results disappoint

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota Galaxy Note 3 battery life results disappoint » Phone Reviews  All NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola Samsung Sony Nokia Video    Add Mark Chubb (Phones Review CEO) to your Circles on Google+   |   Our Apps       Galaxy Note 3 battery life results disappointUnder: Mobile Phones, Samsung
Date: October 19th, 2013

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has always been loved by owners for its amazing battery life, which considering the size of the handset is pretty impressive. Now you would have thought newer would mean better but it doesn’t seem that way as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 battery life results disappoint.

Samsungs new Note features a huge 3,200 mAh battery which compares to the model that it is replacing which has a 3,100 mAh power pack. Now a Korean website has run some battery tests for a number of handsets testing battery life in three categories, Internet browsing, 3D gaming, and video playback.

For video playback the handset came out top with an impressive time of almost 15 hours for its best results or 14 hours at its lowest. The test was done with the handset set at full brightness and then a lower setting, and compared to the Note 2 it achieved 3 hours more and more than double compared to the iPhone 5.

With 3D gaming the Galaxy Note 3 again did well achieving just below four hours only beaten by the Note 2 and Optimus GK, with the hardware tested using the GL Benchmark suite and the Egypt HD Benchmark.

But it is when you look at web browsing the handset didn’t fare so well only achieving an average time of under 6 hours, while last year’s Galaxy Note 2 smashed this with almost 8 hours of web browsing.

The handset was even beat by the likes of the iPhone 5 and LG G2 and Samsung’s own Galaxy Grand. Web browsing will be one of the things that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be used most for, but it has to be remembered that future firmware updates by Samsung could easily rectify battery life results.

Owners may not be experiencing poor battery life but many will be hoping that Samsung soon provides a permanent fix for the rebooting problem we reported about recently.

How have you found the battery life on the Galaxy Note 3?

Sony has been providing the Android platform with a number of new updates for smartphone this year, and now has been a Xperia Sony Z1S for 2013 that could be the version of T-Mobile's the Xperia Z1.

Smartphone serial trick Evleaks has led to Twitter again to provide the image that you can see on this page called the Sony Xperia Z1S and date of 2013 suggestions so that the device will arrive this year.

It is not likely that Sony will launch another device logo this year so this could be a variant of the Sony Xperia Z1 for the United States and to know T-Mobile carrier. It doesn't seem to be the international version of the f of Sony Xperia Z1, which was recently released for the Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo, and this highly desirable size smaller smartphone is not expected to arrive until next year.

The location of the front facing camera is slightly different from the Z1 Xperia already we know, but it is not unusual for smartphone manufactures to make small changes that also include the name for handsets aimed at the United States smartphone market.

If this is the version of Sony Xperia Z1 T-Mobile will have to wait to see an official announcement soon as companies seek to get new hardware in store shelves in time for holiday season shopping busy.

There will always be mobile phone owners arguing that they have the best headset especially between iPhone and Android users, and now they have found new evidence that the iPhone 5 is the smartphone faster.

Some independent testing of the iPhone 5 beat the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the LG G2 using Geekbench application, with single-core and multi-core performance tests. All smartphones that were tested are multi-core devices but more cores does not always offer faster performance.

The 5S iPhone came out to the top thanks to its processor A7 64 bit it is actually manufactured by Samsung and these latest tests do not include the recently launched Galaxy note 3. The LG G2 managed to enter second in kernel unique and almost matching tests iPhone 5S in dual-core simulations.

Galaxy S4 came in third place for both tests with the likes of HTC, iPhone 5 c and Samsung Galaxy Mini S4 filling the rest of the positions. It should be recalled that reference tests do not always reflect use of smartphones in the real world and can vary from handset to handset of the same model depending on a number of factors.

These may include how the device is configured, or even how much is stored on the device, and for everyday use most modern smartphones are pretty fast for the average user.

IPhone 5S scored 1.410 for single-core test and 2,561 in the score of multi-core, while LG G2 achieved a score of 882 and 2355 for multi single-core core. This compares with the Samsung Galaxy S4 achieved a score of 1.939 multi and single-core core 687.

Sony Xperia Z Android 4.3 update release possibility

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota Sony Xperia Z Android 4.3 update release possibility » Phone Reviews  All NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola Samsung Sony Nokia Video    Add Mark Chubb (Phones Review CEO) to your Circles on Google+   |   Our Apps       Sony Xperia Z Android 4.3 update release possibilityUnder: Android OS, Phone Software
Date: October 18th, 2013

Sony have been working hard this year bringing out more desirable handsets for consumers to purchase, and this arguably started with the arrival of the Sony Xperia Z with its dust and waterproofing. Now there are reports of the release possibility for the Sony Xperia Z Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

It looks as if a number of Sony smartphones will soon be enjoying the last version of the Android Jelly Bean firmware, as earlier today we heard that the Sony Xperia L should get the update by mid November, which followed news that the Sony Xperia SP should also be updated in December.

Now the flagship Sony Xperia Z is being tipped to receive Android 4.3 at some point during November as well and possibly the last week of the month. This is only a rumour so no official confirmation has been given so a pinch of salt is needed.

You would have thought though that Sony would get one of its flagship devices updated at least around the same time as the cheaper hardware that is down to receive the new operating system. Sources are claiming that the update will bring a whole host of changes to the smartphone besides performance improvements.

Most of these must be Sony based changes though as Android 4.3 doesn’t bring a vast amount of new features compared to the previous version of the OS. As we get closer to next month we may gets to see some versions of the firmware leaked so we will then be able to see what new features the company has added.

Are you looking forward to Android 4.3 on your Sony Xperia Z?

BlackBerry Z10, Q10 10.2 update now rolling

Date: October 18th, 2013

The BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 were the first two smartphones that released using the new BB10 operating system. The new BlackBerry Z30 launches with the BB10.2 OS update. However, the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 haven’t been forgotten as the 10.2 update has now begun rolling out to these devices.

It was hoped that the revamped BB10 OS and new devices running it would rejuvenate the company, but it hasn’t quite worked out like that. While BlackBerry struggles on in its attempts to breathe new life into the company, it’s good to hear that efforts are still being made to bring OS updates to existing devices.

The 10.2 update for the Z10 and Q10 won’t be available in every region yet, but owners of the handset in Singapore are currently reporting that their devices are now receiving BB10.2.

There has been no timeframe given for when the update will arrive to other regions, but the fact that the update is now rolling out in Singapore certainly indicates that it might not take too much longer to appear elsewhere.

The 10.2 update includes features such as a Priority Hub that will bring particular messages to your attention, and also a lockscreen notification preview. Users will also be able to set multiple alarms and send group SMS messages, and there are also improvements for the camera and browser.

BlackBerry 10.2 is a 117MB update, and hopefully if you have the BlackBerry Z10 or Q10 your device will be receiving this upgrade soon.

If you have one of these phones we’d like to hear from you when the 10.2 update reaches your region, so please do send us your comments. If you are one of the lucky ones to have already received the update, please let us know what you think of it?

iPhone 5S slo-mo vs Galaxy Note 3 video, update required

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota iPhone 5S slo-mo vs Galaxy Note 3 video, update required » Phone Reviews  All NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola Samsung Sony Nokia Video    Add Mark Chubb (Phones Review CEO) to your Circles on Google+   |   Our Apps       iPhone 5S slo-mo vs Galaxy Note 3 video, update requiredUnder: Apple iPhone, Mobile Phones, Samsung
Date: October 18th, 2013

A lot was made about the slow-motion video capability of the iPhone 5S at its recent launch. However, today we have some news about iPhone 5S slo-mo vs. Galaxy Note 3 video, and it seems that an update is required.

If we had to pick the two smartphones that are being most talked about at the moment we’d probably say the Apple iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Both are notable handsets but recent testing has shown that although the iPhone 5S outputs video at 720p, it doesn’t actually capture video at 720p in slow-motion.

First a slo-mo video was taken using the iPhone 5S, and then the Galaxy Note 3 was used to record a regular 720p video. The results showed that the video taken with the Galaxy Note 3 was much more detailed than that taken with the iPhone 5S, as shown in these screenshots.

Following this the 720p video snapshot from the Note 3 was downsized to 480p and upscaled back to 720p again and this resulted in a shot that looked very close to the captured frame from the iPhone 5S. The conclusion to this was that rather than the iPhone 5S capturing video at 720p resolution, the video is actually being shot at 480p and then upsized to 720p.

The testing was conducted by GSM Arena who point out that the per-pixel quality is then much lower than we’d expect from Apple, and so the slow-motion clips are not as good as they should be. As you would expect, this is more noticeable when slo-mo clips are played through a TV or monitor than when played on your phone.

This seems to be an issue that Apple should be able to fix with an update, and hopefully that will be coming soon. Take a look at the images here of the iPhone 5S slo-mo and Galaxy Note 3 video samples, and see if you agree with the conclusion of GSM Arena? Let us know what you think about this by posting your comments.

Verizon confirms HTC One Max availability

Last week the HTC One Max was unveiled to the world officially which followed months of leaks that revealed most of the details of the handset, and while the handset is getting released in the UK to begin with Verizon Wireless now confirms the HTC One Max availability.

We already know that UK residents are getting first dibs on the HTC One Max but the device was promised to be arriving in the US before the end of the year via Verizon and Sprint. Now Verizon has taken to Twitter and provided the image that you can see on this page confirming the device will be arriving during the holiday season.

While no exact date was given or any pricing details for the HTC One Max the company has also provided a sign up page so customers can be notified by email once new information about the handset becomes available.

To recap the HTC One Max is largely based on its smaller cousin but features a huge 5.9-inch Full HD display that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The device will be available in either 16GB or 32GB of built in storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.

We have the same 4MP UltraPixel rear facing camera along with a 2.1-megapixel front facer, and we have already seen some official accessories emerging for the device that includes a case that will provide the handset with even more power, which was rumoured to be coming before the official announcement.

Are you going to get the HTC One Max?

Plants vs. Zombies 2 not so global Android release: Update

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota Plants vs. Zombies 2 enjoys global Android release » Phone Reviews All NewsiPhoneBlackBerryAndroidHTCLGMotorola Samsung Sony Nokia Video    Add Mark Chubb (Phones Review CEO) to your Circles on Google+   |   Our Apps       Plants vs. Zombies 2 enjoys global Android releaseUnder: Android OS Apps, Apps
Date: October 18th, 2013

We have seen a few big name apps becoming available this year that have got some iOS favouritism, which leads to a lot of anger among fans of the Android platform. While we still wait for the release of the elusive Android iFruit app we have the great news that the Plants vs. Zombies 2 game enjoys a global Android release.

Just over a week ago we told you that the game had been released for some Google Play users in certain regions, but now the Plants vs. Zombies 2 release has been expanded globally for users to download and finally enjoy.

The apps listing states that the zombies are returning and “It’s about time”, which is something many Android users will certainly agree with. The sequel to the original hit game promises more zombies while you try and build an army of powerful new plants that can be boosted with Plant Food to improve your defences.

You can gain Finger Powers so you can then flick, pinch, and zap those pesky zombies, and keys can be collected to play valuable side missions with users able to connect to Game Services to unlock achievements while competing against friends via the leader boards.

The free game requires that devices are running at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM minimum hardware requirement. To find out or to download head over to Google Play.
